Guardivia

Glossary term

Sender ID

The name or number shown as the sender of an SMS.

Plain-language definition

The name or number shown as the sender of an SMS.

Technical definition

The sender ID is the originating address (TON/NPI and digits or alphanumeric string) submitted by the ESME; operators may register, restrict or force it by policy.

Why it matters

Sender IDs carry brand trust, so spoofing and replacement are prime fraud vectors and key integrity checks in route testing.
