Plain-language definition
A shared IP address that moves between nodes when one fails.
Technical definition
VRRP elects a master for a virtual IP; if it fails a backup takes over, keeping SMPP binds and service endpoints reachable.
Why it matters
Guardivia's firewall engines use VRRP so ESMEs bind to one stable address.
