SS7 and SIGTRAN Security
Signaling-layer protection for SMS: Global Title filtering, SRI-SM behaviour, MAP operations and SIGTRAN environments.
What is ss7 and sigtran security?
SS7 SMS firewall protection analyses the signaling associated with SMS delivery to detect unauthorised, suspicious, malformed, spoofed or policy-violating signaling activity, before the message reaches the operator's SMSC and subscribers.
SS7 was designed for a network of trusted operators. That assumption no longer holds, and SMS delivery depends on signaling procedures that reveal subscriber information and can be abused to route commercial traffic around billing.
This hub covers the SMS-specific signaling controls: what a Global Title actually tells you, how SRI-SM behaviour exposes abuse, and what it means to deploy in a SIGTRAN environment.

Short answers to the questions that come up most often. Longer topics have their own articles above.
Does Guardivia support SIGTRAN environments?
Guardivia's signaling-security architecture can be designed for SS7 over SIGTRAN environments and relevant protocols such as M3UA, SCCP, TCAP and MAP according to the operator's network topology.
Is SS7 SMS firewall protection the same as general SS7 security?
No. Guardivia's signaling scope in the SMS Signaling and ESME Gateway Firewall is SMS signaling. Broader SS7 category screening — location tracking and other non-SMS MAP abuse — is addressed through the STP platform in the Core Network Suite or a separately scoped engagement.
Where does the firewall sit relative to the STP?
Typically inline between the STP and the SMSC, so that inbound interconnect and roaming SMS signaling is screened before it reaches the message centre. The exact topology depends on the operator's existing signaling architecture.
