Outcome-led solution

Grey-Route Elimination

A grey route is a path over which A2P SMS is delivered without the commercial agreement and termination fee the operator expects, typically by injecting commercial traffic through P2P interconnects, SIM boxes or unauthorised Global Titles.

The challenge

  • Commercial traffic disguised as P2P
  • SIM-box ranges rotating quickly
  • Supplier routes that look fine from the DLR

How does Guardivia eliminate grey routes?

Guardivia eliminates grey routes by correlating route, Global Title, MSISDN behaviour, content and HLR/MNP evidence in the SMS Signaling and ESME Gateway Firewall, blocking or redirecting unauthorised A2P to billable routes, and confirming with Honeypot SMS Testing that traffic to real handsets no longer arrives over manipulated paths.

FAQ

Questions about this solution

Is every sender-ID change a grey route?

No. A changed sender ID is a strong indicator that is correlated with route, GT, CDR and device evidence before a grey-route verdict is issued.
